PortraitsWorking in Fine Jewelry at Barneys NY exposed this former Elementary School Teacher to the most fantastic opportunities.  It enabled me to befriend and work with some of the world’s most talented designers- some welcomed me into their studios to learn their craft, many collaborated with me on special orders for clients, and a few gave me intensive training on the complexities of gemology.  My position also gave me the privilege to form relationships with collectors who are as passionate about jewelry as I am, to understand the diversity in what people want in jewelry, and to be a part of many couple’s most special and romantic memories.

My husband and I moved from Manhattan to Thailand to support his career and found it is only just the beginning of mine.   The City of Gems has given me a warm welcome- I found an inspiring partner and best friend in Ellen, we have discovered honest gemologists who work only with the highest quality stones, we have found people who will create western designs that we are accustomed to, and now we get to share it all with you.

Antique jewelry has always been exemplary of what I consider to be beautiful.  I am currently trying to integrate antique and contemporary design for my own personal collection.  That doesn’t mean I am not open to any ideas you may have for yourself!

PortraitsFor me, Asia Gem Connection is an opportunity to combine my career in public relations, business management, and client service for FORTUNE 500 companies with my passion for designing and collecting jewelry.

My career began in politics, where I worked as a communications director and campaign manager for candidates and elected officials. In 2003, I joined the corporate world, working at the headquarters of international PR agency Fleishman-Hillard. From there, I led two teams – corporate and internal communications – for the world’s largest beer company, Anheuser-Busch InBev.

In 2010 my husband and I started our journey as expats, relocating first to Hong Kong, where I worked for Ogilvy Public Relations.  In my spare time, I couldn’t wait to explore the custom jewelry opportunities there.

I was hopeful but ultimately disappointed by what I found, though.  Then fate intervened in the form of a transfer by my husband to Bangkok.  Before our moving boxes arrived, I began researching the bespoke jewelry possibilities, creating a perfect cornflower blue sapphire ring to commemorate the birth of our perfect daughter, Ariadne.

When I met Jamie, I knew I had a kindred spirit and savvy business partner with an eye for great design, a love of gemstones in every color of the rainbow, and above all, a passion for heirloom-quality craftsmanship.  We love the hunt, and enjoy scouring the sometimes harrowing streets of Bangkok to find unusual stones, settings and craftsmen and craftswomen not mentioned in guidebooks or travelogues.

I love classic lines and minimalist settings, both antique and contemporary, that showcase the stunning colors of precious and semi-precious gemstones.  I also love commemorating a special event with a piece of jewelry that will last a lifetime.  I’m already dreaming of the treasure chest of jewelry I will leave to my daughter!
